Internet Explorer

Written by Shaibanii Pressed on December 16th, 2008 - 9:35 pm Filled Under: The Internet

I spend hours working on this blog of mine, this includes content, appearence, randomness, everything! However, IE is an ungrateful creation which seems to disagree with my methods of coding, and decides not to display them properly. Thus this ecourages me to support Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome. This site is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox 3, on a screen reseloution of 1024×768 or higher.

Close This Panel | Crash Your Internet Explorer

That is what Internet Explorer users see when they visit this blog from now on.. A few minutes after I was done with all this, Luke sent in ‘Serious security flaw in IE‘. Talk about perfect timing! :-)

6 Shortcuts That Will Make Your XP-erience Faster

Written by Shaibanii Pressed on December 2nd, 2008 - 8:43 pm Filled Under: List

Windows Logo

Ah, I’ve been using XP ever since it came out, and everyone knows it’s not the best OS (speed-wise). Moving your mouse sometimes can make your computer go crashie, but I’ve noticed that using a keyboard shortcut always works! :-)

Note: They’re randomly listed. They work with Vista as well!

  1. Alt + Tab
Arguably, the most popular shortcut of all, you can use it to navigate through open windows. Very useful!
  2. Windows Key + D
Wanna bring all your windows down, simple, hit the Windows Key (the one that opens the Start menu) and D. Down they go!
  3. Ctrl+F5
Very useful Indeed, instead of digging through your browser’s settings to clear your cache, try this for a change!
  4. Shift + Alt
Wanna change to another typing language? Use this shortcut, save you the trouble of going to the language bar.
  5. Alt + F4
Close the current open window. Doesn’t get any simpler than that.
  6. And now for the most useful one (after all this is Windows XP :P)

    Ctrl+Alt+Delete

Frozen? End the process or program that’s freezing the whole OS!

Got anything that you think should be up here? Lemme know in the comments ;D

Bored?..

Written by Shaibanii Pressed on September 23rd, 2008 - 2:56 pm Filled Under: Randomness

Bored? Wanna play a prank on someone? I’m sure you’ve heard of the Blue Screen of Death, and probably experienced it if you’re on Windows. Microsoft has a BSOD screensaver up for download on its site, so go ahead, play a harmless prank on someone. :-D

Tricked someone using this? Let me know how it went in the comments. I could use a good laugh. :-)

Windows Live Writer

Written by Shaibanii Pressed on September 14th, 2008 - 10:08 am Filled Under: Reviews

In case you don’t know Windows Live Writer, its a desktop writer.  So, instead of logging in to WordPress or blogger or whatever. You just have to open it up, enter your password and post (After setting it up of course, which is pretty simple.).

I heard all about it, and decided to download it to find out what’s so awesome about it.

It’s pretty straight-forward, Writer options on top, and under it the post’s options, then writing options. The sidebar features drafts, recent posts, and insert options. You can use it’s WYSIWG editor, or just X/HTML.

On the downside, nothing! I can’t find anything that’s bad about this.  I just did, when I was publishing this post… Error strikes… 403 Forbidden. Can’t seem to find anything on Google. I found a few sites that said it’s caused by the ‘Bad Behavior’ plugin, which I don’t have.

This sucks, it’s just so awesome yet it doesn’t work :-| What the ****! O.O But enough about me, I’ll just pretend that it works, so I don’t start b*tching about un-lucky I am. Now, overall it’s pretty good, simple to use, easy to setup. Although I have to mention this — I don’t like the Windows Live installer, because it takes a long time to install things, then you get an error. :-| I had to try to install it 2 times

Anyway, here’s a screen-shot:

Note: This post was published using Windows Live Writer WORDPRESS!

Another Note: Although I can’t publish, it’s always a good place to write the posts, and then copy-paste them to WP :-)

The OS War

Written by Shaibanii Pressed on August 29th, 2008 - 5:12 pm Filled Under: Comparison

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Ubuntu Linux — Ubuntu Linux is a free OS, just like Windows XP — but for free. When I say just like Windows XP, I mean it is something that you run on your computer/laptop. Not a OS that everyone complains about. :P They’re completely 2 different things!

I’m sure you’ve heard of XP, Vista, and Mac OS X, so I don’t think I need to tell you a bit about it like Linux; but I will anyway. XP, the most used operating system in the world, and made by Microsoft, and is probably what you run. Vista, the XP-wannabe IMO, has too many bugs, is improving, but not being given a second chance. Mac, the “perfect” alternative to Windows, in many people’s minds, but it too has some downsides.

In this post, we’ll (me :-P) be comparing 4 operating systems (OS’), Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and last but not least, Mac OS X. Why does this matter, you ask? You’ll just go with the popular one? XP? No my friend, this is gonna help you decide on which is best for you :-) Read the rest »
