6 Shortcuts That Will Make Your XP-erience Faster
| Written by Shaibanii | Pressed on December 2nd, 2008 - 8:43 pm | Filled Under: List |

Ah, I’ve been using XP ever since it came out, and everyone knows it’s not the best OS (speed-wise). Moving your mouse sometimes can make your computer go crashie, but I’ve noticed that using a keyboard shortcut always works!
Note: They’re randomly listed. They work with Vista as well!
- Alt + Tab
Arguably, the most popular shortcut of all, you can use it to navigate through open windows. Very useful! - Windows Key + D
Wanna bring all your windows down, simple, hit the Windows Key (the one that opens the Start menu) and D. Down they go! - Ctrl+F5
Very useful Indeed, instead of digging through your browser’s settings to clear your cache, try this for a change! - Shift + Alt
Wanna change to another typing language? Use this shortcut, save you the trouble of going to the language bar. - Alt + F4
Close the current open window. Doesn’t get any simpler than that. - And now for the most useful one (after all this is Windows XP :P)
Ctrl+Alt+Delete
Frozen? End the process or program that’s freezing the whole OS!
Got anything that you think should be up here? Lemme know in the comments ;D

Desktop Earth
| Written by Shaibanii | Pressed on October 10th, 2008 - 3:10 pm | Filled Under: Discovery |
Desktop Earth, something I recently discovered. It’s an application that shows you the Earth from space. How awesome?!
You may think “f***! This is gonna slow my computer down” and… you’re wrong. It doesn’t, or at least for me. There are options that you can choose to exclude from your desktop, such as clouds and lighting etc.
You may be really excited about it, but realistically it gets boring, and has a few bugs. The day after I installed it, I got weird text on the screen and had to restart my computer a couple of times before it went away. I think it’s caused from the cloud updates
It would’ve been better if it had zooming options, the ability to rotate (if its an active desktop item), in summary — more interaction. I tried it on my Vista laptop, didn’t work. It worked fine on XP. Definitely not Ubuntu (Wine). Add those features, and it become a must-have app.
And maybe, I’ll use it, but for now, the normal everyday wallpaper will do.
Bored?..

Bored? Wanna play a prank on someone? I’m sure you’ve heard of the Blue Screen of Death, and probably experienced it if you’re on Windows. Microsoft has a BSOD screensaver up for download on its site, so go ahead, play a harmless prank on someone.
Tricked someone using this? Let me know how it went in the comments. I could use a good laugh.
Windows Live Writer

In case you don’t know Windows Live Writer, its a desktop writer. So, instead of logging in to WordPress or blogger or whatever. You just have to open it up, enter your password and post (After setting it up of course, which is pretty simple.).
I heard all about it, and decided to download it to find out what’s so awesome about it.
It’s pretty straight-forward, Writer options on top, and under it the post’s options, then writing options. The sidebar features drafts, recent posts, and insert options. You can use it’s WYSIWG editor, or just X/HTML.
On the downside, nothing! I can’t find anything that’s bad about this. I just did, when I was publishing this post… Error strikes… 403 Forbidden. Can’t seem to find anything on Google. I found a few sites that said it’s caused by the ‘Bad Behavior’ plugin, which I don’t have.
This sucks, it’s just so awesome yet it doesn’t work
What the ****! O.O But enough about me, I’ll just pretend that it works, so I don’t start b*tching about un-lucky I am. Now, overall it’s pretty good, simple to use, easy to setup. Although I have to mention this — I don’t like the Windows Live installer, because it takes a long time to install things, then you get an error.
I had to try to install it 2 times
Anyway, here’s a screen-shot:
Note: This post was published using Windows Live Writer WORDPRESS!
Another Note: Although I can’t publish, it’s always a good place to write the posts, and then copy-paste them to WP
Tutorial: Installing a Font
| Written by Shaibanii | Pressed on September 11th, 2008 - 3:22 pm | Filled Under: Tutorials |
By far, this is the simplest tutorial I have ever done!
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that all of you know how to do it in Windows, but if you need to know how on Mac OS X or Linux, here’s how:
In Windows XP: Copy the font to ‘C:/WINDOWS/Fonts’
In Windows Vista: Right click the font and select ‘Install’
Mac OS X: Double click the font and select ‘Install font’
In Linux: Copy the font to ‘fonts:///’
Enjoy
